The City of Walla Walla is providing an update on the Myra Road South Extension and Howard Street IRRP projects, which have been paused since Aug. 12, 2025, due to a labor dispute between private construction contractors and their employees. The City is pleased to share that an agreement has been reached, and work will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025.

As construction resumes, Taumarson Road will again be closed to traffic beginning Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025. Both Taumarson and Highland Road must be closed simultaneously to allow utility work, roadway grading, and eventually concrete work and paving to move forward. The City recognizes the added travel time these closures create and sincerely thanks the public for their patience as crews work to complete the projects.

With full crews back to work on Howard Street, the City anticipates substantial completion in mid-October. Remaining work includes concrete sidewalk/ADA ramps/driveway approach installations, final asphalt paving, roadway striping and signage installation, and landscape restoration.
