Home Delivery Frequently Asked Questions

Who qualifies for home delivery?
Anyone who has a current Walla Walla Public Library card, does not owe over $50 on their account, and lives within Walla Walla City limits. If you reside outside of City limits, we can facilitate deliveries, but the delivery location must be within City limits (i.e. a family member's house, a friend's house, or your workplace.) We require that the location can accommodate social distancing and that we can easily access the front door to leave deliveries without entering a gated yard. 

What about patrons living in group homes or assisted living?
At this time we will not be making deliveries to group homes or assisted living centers, where there are significant numbers of people at high risk for health complications due to COVID-19. We are adhering strictly to Governor Inslee’s Stay Home, Stay Healthy order.

What does it cost?

How do I sign up?

Do I need to be home when deliveries are made? How will I be notified when a delivery is on the way?
You do not need to be home to accept a delivery. Deliveries will be made to your door; staff will not come into contact with you. Deliveries will be scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. We will contact you the day before the delivery will be made.

Can I pick specific books, or can you deliver my holds?
We are able to deliver items you have placed on hold. We can also deliver a special selection of books assembled by staff based on your reading choices. 

How often can I have items delivered?
We can deliver items to you once per month. Please fill out the delivery form or call the library each time you'd like a new delivery.

Will you accept returns? 
At this time we are not able to accept returns of library materials. All due dates have been extended and any overdue fines incurred during the closure will be waived. Please keep all delivered materials until we regain the ability to accept returns.
 

How will you keep library patrons safe?
We will sanitize all library materials before they are checked out. Library employees will wear protective equipment and practice strict social distancing procedures while at the library and at every delivery. No library employee that is or has recently been sick will handle materials or participate in deliveries. 

This seems like a lot of work for the library. Why can’t I just come by and pick up my items?
We care about the health of our staff and our community. At this time, home delivery best allows patrons to borrow materials while library staff and community members maintain safe health practices and adhere to Governor Inslee's Stay Home, Stay Healthy order.
