How do I renew a card if I already have an account?
You can renew your library card in person or over the phone during open hours. You do not need fill out the registration form again.
Please be prepared to confirm your current contact information. If you have moved to a new address, we will need to see proof of this address. This could be on a photo ID, a recently received piece of mail in your name, a utility bill, etc.
All fines must be paid before your account may be renewed.
Who is eligible for a free account?
- Students enrolled in Walla Walla Public Schools, including preschool and Walla Walla Online, regardless of residency. Please visit this page for more information.
- Anyone who resides or owns property within Walla Walla city limits.
- Reciprocal borrowers, who have a card at any of the following libraries: Walla Walla County Rural Library District; Columbia County Rural Library District; Mid-Columbia Libraries; Richland Public Library. See our Reciprocal Borrowing page for more information.
Individuals who do not meet the residency requirement may pay for a nonresident card. The cost is $68/year or $34/six months and covers everyone in the household.
What do I need to do to open a new account?
- Complete and submit a registration form.
- Show us photo ID with current address (for anyone 18+ years). If the ID isn't current, we need to see additional proof of address, e.g. recently received piece of mail.
- For reciprocal borrowers, show us your home library card.
For minors, if the parent/legal guardian does not have a current library account, we need to see the parent/guardian's photo ID with current address.
If you need to pay for a nonresident card, we accept payment by credit/debit card, check, or exact cash.
How do I access/submit the form?
Choose the option that works best for you:
- Complete the Get a Library Card registration form on our website. Please allow one full business day to process your application through our website.
- Pick up the form in person at the library, or request that we send it to you in the mail
- Return the form in person, by mail, or by scanning and sending via email
Remember to include a copy of your photo ID/proof of current address, and copy of home library card for reciprocal borrowers, if you do not plan to show us in person.
